Range OPERATION and SAFETY review
This review covers the operating and safety practices that we all need to monitor and use for the safe operation of the range and for the shooting safety of the range users and our neighbors. This review is mandatory as per our BYLAWS for all full members that use the KVR&P CLUB Range at times other than during scheduled activities. The range operation and safety rules are mandatory for all users and must be adhered to at all times.
Range operation:
1. Door lock code must be kept secure. Unscheduled use of the KVR&P Club range is limited to FULL MEMBERS at least 21 years old
2. Junior shooters younger than 21 years old must be supervised by a parent at all times
3. Guests of FULL MEMBERS must be supervised by a FULL MEMBER at all times
4. Light switches for the lobby are located in the range on the post by the heater
5. Range/backstop light switches are located on the third post
6. Heaters
a. Heater fan switches are located on the 1st post above the lobby light switches and labeled north and south heater/fan
b. Heater thermostat and time control for the range heater is on the wall to the left of the heater
c. Heater thermostat and time control for the lobby heater is on the north lobby wall
d. Switches for the ventilation fans are on the first post by the shooting line.
7. Sign in for daily use in the log on the lobby counter, sign user name /date, time in/out
8. When leaving, sweep up your brass, clean up your space, turn off fans/heaters/lights, secure the door, scramble the numbers on the lock, Thanks for using your range
Safety Rules: For scheduled and nonscheduled use
1. Treat all guns as if they are always loaded.
2. Any uncased gun not being used on the firing line must be unloaded and have an empty chamber indicator installed with the action open.
3. Always point the gun in a safe direction with the finger off the trigger until ready to shoot. On the firing line always keep weapon pointed down range.
4. The KVR&P Club shooting range is for 22 short/long/long rifle cartridges or airguns of 25cal. or less only with no exceptions ever.
5. All guns must be made safe and chamber indicators installed before any person goes forward of any position of/on the firing line to change/adjust targets.
6. In case of firearm malfunction the firearm must be unloaded with action open and if possible an empty chamber indicator installed prior to leaving the firing line.
